The Smile
Illustration and text - children's picture book
The Smile explores human happiness as expressed through a smile. Portrait-focused drawings complement lyrical text to illustrate different smiles we use in different contexts. It features people across a range of ages and cultural backgrounds to create a sense of connection - when we share our smiles, we contribute to a happier, more connected world. The Smile is for readers aged 8 years and up. It is intended to be a source of comfort and joy.
The Smile was longlisted out of 700 projects from 70 countries in The Unpublished Picturebook Showcase 7 (2025). The longlisted projects are live in the logged-in area of the dPICTUS platform for the community of international publishers and agents to see.
